The United Women’s Lacrosse League (UWLX) announced today that it has partnered with Gillette Stadium to serve as a promotional partner of the 2017 NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The tournament finale, which crowns the college lacrosse national champions, will be held on Memorial Day Weekend at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
“I am very happy to once again work with my friend Digit Murphy and now the United Women’s Lacrosse League,” said Phil Buttafuoco, Gillette Stadium Executive Director of Special Events. “Digit and I were able to accomplish some great things together in the past with ice hockey, and we now strive to create another fantastic event, this time within the sport of lacrosse.”
Digit Murphy, the co-founder and CEO of United Women’s Sports, also voiced her excitement in having the league participate with Gillette Stadium in such a tremendous weekend for the sport of lacrosse.
“Being a native New Englander, it is a dream come true to have the UWLX and United Women’s Sports associated with Gillette Stadium,” she stated. “It is also going to be really incredible to work with Phil again, along with his entire team. Phil has always been a strong advocate of creating sports opportunities for both men and women, and this relationship is one that will be very beneficial for our league and the entire sport of lacrosse. Along with thanking Phil, we also want to express our gratitude to Gillette Stadium, the New England Patriots and the Kraft Family for their support of the NCAA women’s championship.”
Additional details surrounding the relationship with Gillette Stadium and the upcoming 2017 NCAA Men’s and Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championships, being held in Foxborough from May 26-29, will be made in the coming weeks and months leading up to the event.
