New Jersey ODP Technical Director James Galanis was recently invited to be a guest speaker at the Athens Women’s Football Summit in Greece. Among the topics of discussion included how the women’s game can grow globally, as well as the challenges that many women throughout the world face when playing the sport.
“It was an honor to represent New Jersey Youth Soccer at the Athens Women’s Football Summit,” said Galanis. “I was able to share my views on how the women’s game can grow and also share my methodology for player development. It was a great opportunity to meet influential people who are keen on finding solutions that make the life of a female soccer player better around the world.”
Emceed by New Jersey native Jim Gooley, the Athens Women’s Football Summit has a mission to nurture positive social change while helping women achieve equal footing in the sport. Held at the Riviera Coast in Glyfada, Greece, the two-day event hosted many prominent individuals within the game. The list of featured speakers included Brigitte Henriques (Vice President of French Football Federation), Tatjana Haenni (Head of Women’s Football at Swiss Football Association), Ebru Koksal (Chair of Women in Football), Carolina Morace (Italian coach and accomplished international player) and Gilberto Silva (FIFA World Cup champion and international standout), among many others.
