Coach Myers to Be Formally Honored at NJYS Awards Dinner on February 2nd
New Jersey Youth Soccer will be hosting its 30th Annual Awards Dinner this Friday, February 2nd, where it will honor many players, coaches and members of the soccer community. One of those honorees will be Chuck Myers, who has been selected as the 2017 NJYS Recreation Coach of the Year.
“Being involved in youth soccer takes a lot of time and is sometimes a bit stressful, but I cannot get enough of it,” said Coach Myers. “I have been coaching and managing teams for 17 years, and I intend to continue developing as an educator through my coaching license journey and learning experience.”
Coach Myers has developed a longstanding reputation as an inspirational volunteer coach and director within the Piscataway Soccer Club. His passion for the game, coupled with a hands-on approach and open communication style, resonates with each player, parent and coach with whom he is involved. Within his coaching philosophy, he seeks ways to improve the overall experience of players while also keeping their long-term benefits in mind. He is best known to follow the 3 L’s: no lines, no laps and no lectures when coaching. He believes that the game itself is always the best teacher.
Coach Myers truly serves as an ambassador for the game and strives to be a positive role model for his players and peers. He is committed to staying educated as a National Youth Licensed Coach, and he also sets up numerous “F” and “E” License Courses to help other coaches remain well-informed. Additionally, he leads the pass back charity program in Piscataway, which benefits other programs in need.
Since 2004, the NJYS Recreation Coach of the Year Award has recognized a volunteer coach for outstanding service within a recreation program. The individual demonstrates a superior commitment to sharing the fun and enjoyment of the game while enforcing the following attributes: sportsmanship, player development, personal coaching development and community involvement.
