Partnership Fueled by Flavor and Community Connection
Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) is pleased to announce a partnership with Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ, a Connecticut-based restaurant known for its Kansas City-style barbecue and strong commitment to the community. This collaboration brings together two organizations with deep local roots, creating exciting opportunities to connect with soccer families through great food and shared experiences.
With five locations across Connecticut and two in Asheville, North Carolina, Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ has earned a loyal following through its high-quality, homemade BBQ and dedication to local engagement. Co-founded by Kansas City native Jamie McDonald and Windsor Locks resident Cheryl Antoncic, Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ has become a household favorite for families across the state.
“We’re thrilled to bring together two of our biggest passions — BBQ and sports! — in partnership with the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association,” said Cheryl Antoncic, co-owner of Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ. “Serving athletes and fans has always been a critical part of our business, specifically our local home teams, and we’re excited to support CJSA, its players and their families across the state. It’s a fantastic opportunity to fuel game days with great BBQ and build lasting connections in the community.”
As part of the relationship, Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ will be onsite at upcoming CJSA events such as the Spring Connecticut Cup and State Cup, with additional appearances planned for the fall season. To celebrate the launch of the collaboration, Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ will host a watch party at its Hartford location on Saturday, June 7, for the U.S. Men’s National Team match against Turkey. Families and fans who show their CJSA affiliation will receive 10% off food, kicking off the partnership with a gameday gathering centered around community, soccer and great food.
“We’re excited to welcome Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ as our official BBQ partner. Great food brings families and teams together!” said Josh Krusewski, Executive Director of Connecticut Junior Soccer Association. “This partnership will help fuel our players and families in their restaurants, as well as at tournaments and events across Connecticut. We look forward to having Bear’s on site at our state championships on June 1st and are excited about the US Men’s Soccer watch party on June 7th.”
This partnership reflects CJSA’s ongoing mission to enhance the youth soccer experience for its membership both on and off the field. CJSA teams and families interested in booking catering for tournaments, team events or celebrations can contact Bear’s catering team at catering@bearsbbq.com.
