The US Youth Soccer National Championships are currently underway at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, where the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) was represented by a pair of teams in Yankee United FC Attack G06 (17U Girls) and Ginga FC Girls 2007 Elite PRO DPL (16U Girls). Reaching the USYS National Championships serves as an incredible accomplishment, with teams arriving at the final phase of competition in their mission to become national champions.

“Congratulations to Yankee United FC and Ginga FC on getting to the national championship stage of this competition,” said Josh Krusewski, Executive Director of the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association. “Both teams competed under very difficult temperatures in Orlando and did a great job of representing our state.”

Yankee United FC Attack G06 had an outstanding showing at the USYS National Championships, going unbeaten in three games of group play. They opened the tournament with a 2-2 draw against Solar SC South 06G Adames (NTX) on Tuesday before earning a huge 5-1 victory over NJ Premier G2006 the following day. The Connecticut side then finished the opening round of play with a 1-1 draw against Club Ohio 06G National on Thursday. Despite their great performance in the group, Yankee United FC Attack G06 would finish second in their bracket to Solar SC South 06G Adames (NTX), unfortunately ending their national championship run.

Ginga FC Girls 2007 Elite PRO DPL faced tough competition in the 16U Girls Division, where they were unable to come out on the right side of three highly contested matches in group play. Emerging as the winner from their bracket was Vegas United 07 Girls Elite, who won all three of their group games.

The USYS National Championship Series is the country’s most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing winners from each state the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.
