Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that midfielder Daphne Corboz will be joining French club FC Fleury 91 on loan during the NWSL offseason.
Corboz, 24, recently completed her first season with Sky Blue FC. During her 2017 campaign, the Greenbrook, N.J. native made 12 starts over 19 appearances, recording one goal and tied for the team-lead with five assists. Prior to joining Sky Blue FC, Corboz spent two seasons with Manchester City of the FA Women’s Super League.
As a youth player, Corboz attended Watchung Hills High School and flourished within the Players Development Academy, which is a U.S. Soccer Girls’ Development Academy partner of Sky Blue FC. She then attended Georgetown University and had one of the most decorated careers in program history. Making 80 starts in 82 appearances, Corboz accumulated 134 points over four years, registering 47 goals and 41 assists. The 47 goals still stand as the highest mark ever in the Georgetown record books. During her collegiate career, she was named an NSCAA All-American on three occasions, including a First Team nod following her sophomore campaign.
FC Fleury 91 currently plays in the Division 1 Féminine, which is the first division of women’s soccer in France. The club won the Division 2 championship earlier this year, earning a promotion to the Division 1 Féminine.
Corboz will return to New Jersey prior to the start of the 2018 season.
