After spending the past two seasons with Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), forward Leah Galton has officially signed with FC Bayern Munich Women of the Frauen-Bundesliga for the upcoming year of play.

“Sky Blue FC has been not only my team, but also my family for the past two seasons. The decision to leave was by far the hardest I have had to make in my career to date,” said Galton. “Thank you to the Sky Blue FC players, coaches, staff and fans who welcomed me into the team fresh out of college and helped me grow over the past two seasons. I will always be very grateful. I wish the girls all the best this season and look forward to watching Sky Blue FC challenge for the playoffs. Beez up!”

Sky Blue FC originally drafted Galton out of Hofstra University with the no. 13 overall selection in the 2016 NWSL College Draft. In her rookie season later that year, the Harrogate, England, native made 10 starts over 14 appearances, registering three goals and four assists. During her follow-up 2017 campaign, she was sidelined with an injury for a portion of the season but still managed to record two goals and an assist over 16 matches (six starts).

“First and foremost, we want to thank Leah for everything she has done for our club over the past two seasons,” said Tony Novo, Sky Blue FC President & General Manager. “We will truly miss Leah, both on and off the field. On behalf of everyone here at Sky Blue FC, we want to wish her all the best in Germany, and we will definitely be her biggest fans from afar.”

Sky Blue FC recently announced that the team will be holding its 2018 open tryouts on February 14-15 at Sportika Sports in Manalapan, N.J. The registration process for the tryouts is now open, and interested players can sign up today online.
