Four Connecticut Teams Advance to Eastern Presidents Cup Semifinals

The State of Connecticut has been very well represented at the US Youth Soccer Eastern Presidents Cup, with four Connecticut Junior Soccer Association (CJSA) teams advancing past group play and into the semifinals of the regional tournament. Connecticut teams that punched their tickets to the semifinal round include Farmington SC Girls 2010 (13U Girls), Naugatuck Youth Soccer Boys 2008 (15U Boys), Simsbury SC Comets (15U Girls) and Bridgeport Premier FC 04/05 (19U Boys).

The Farmington SC Girls 2010 were victorious in all three group play matches, scoring 11 goals and only yielding one to finish at the top of the table. Naugatuck Youth Soccer Boys 2008 also won their group, earning three consecutive victories and outscoring the opposition, 7-1. The Simsbury SC Comets won two of three games to conclude the opening round as runners-up in their bracket, while Bridgeport Premier FC 04/05 advanced into the semifinals on points after ending group play with two draws and one loss.

The Eastern Presidents Cup kicked off on Friday in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, with teams vying for a spot in the US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup this July in Wichita, Kansas. Both champions and finalists in the 13U to 18U age groups will continue onto the National Presidents Cup, as will champions in the 19U division. The semifinal round of the Eastern Presidents Cup is being played on Monday, with championship matches taking place on Tuesday.
