Uprising Promotions Middleweight Faces Martez Jackson in Macon, Ga.

Undefeated Uprising Promotions middleweight Kemahl Russell (9-0, 7 KOs) is set for an Oct. 23rd ring return, facing Martez Jackson (3-1-2, 2 KOs) at the Shrine Temple in Macon, Ga.

“I want to thank Uprising Promotions and K’NRG Management for all of the hard work that they have been doing behind the scenes to help me advance my career,” Russell stated. “I plan on making them proud by getting the job done on October 23rd before moving onto my first title shot on December 3rd in front of my hometown of Kingston, Jamaica. I need all of my fans, countrymen and countrywomen to come out and support me on December 3rd. This is a huge opportunity for not only me but for all of Jamaica to showcase our national pride in front of an international audience on CBS Sports. I promise you all that I am going to make you proud when I win this title.”

Russell won the Jamaican edition of the Contender Boxing Series in 2015 when he stopped Richard Holmes in the fourth round of those finals. He earned his way into the Contender Finale with stoppage wins over Kevin Placide and Kevin Hylton before a unanimous decision victory over Devon Moncrieffe in the semifinals. Currently on a three-bout knockout streak, Russell has since stopped Hector Nava in Mexico before earning a TKO victory over 28-fight veteran Denny Dalton this past July in Jamaica.

“Everything has started to fall into place with Kemahl having some stability in his career,” said Ronson Frank, President of Uprising Promotions. “He has a reliable trainer now and is completely healthy, which are two of the most important factors for a fighter. We have a lot of things lined up for him as we remain focused on his future. Martez is tough and physical guy, so we know this fight will be a good test for Kemahl. However, we expect him to win convincingly and continue to move forward towards bigger and better things. After this fight, our entire focus shifts to him getting his first junior title in Jamaica on December 3rd.”

With Russell returning to the ring on Oct. 23rd before finishing off the year with a junior title opportunity in December, Uprising Promotions already has major 2017 plans for the young Jamaican middleweight that have begun to materialize as well.
