New Jersey Youth Soccer recently held two Celebration of Soccer events, with one occurring in Flemington and a second one being held in Wallkill Valley. NJYS Celebration of Soccer events consist of small-sided and uninterrupted games that have no coaches or referees, creating a fun and worry-free environment for all of the young athletes who participate.
Players and families from the Greater Flemington Soccer Club participated in the NJYS Celebration of Soccer event that was held at Lenape Park in Flemington, N.J. NJYS Director of Coaching Rick Meana attended the event, where parents helped to facilitate the activities. Additionally, all of the young players left with a bag full of goodies from a selection of NJYS partners and sponsors.
Next up, Wallkill Valley Recreational Soccer hosted a NJYS Celebration of Soccer event at the Hardyston Sports and Recreation Complex in Hardyston, N.J. All of the young athletes played in a stress-free environment for the entirety of the event, which was led by NJYS Recreation Commissioner Nelson Ramirez. The players received an additional treat for attending, as New Jersey native and Sky Blue FC midfielder Nickolette Driesse was there to speak with the players and take photos.
“The NJYS Celebration of Soccer is a way to give the game back to the players by letting them enjoy all the benefits of an unstructured free play environment that encourages self-expression, creative spontaneity and self-responsibility,” said Meana.
In addition to these NJYS Celebration of Soccer events, NJ Youth Soccer also held a NJYS “Y” Course session in Wallkill Valley the day before their Celebration of Soccer was held. Eight participants attended the course, which is designed to provide novice youth soccer coaches with the essentials to get them confidently prepared for the season. The focus of the course is to present those coaches with a solid understanding of fundamental coaching principles and methods, as well as basic coaching responsibilities.
NJ Youth Soccer would like to thank each of its partners and sponsors who made these NJYS Celebration of Soccer events such as a success, including the New York Red Bulls, Sky Blue FC, Topps Trading Cards, Culligan Water Conditioning, Hamburg Hot Bagels and TJ’s Pizza.
