The New Jersey Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) and Philadelphia Union will officially extend their partnership into the 2018-19 season, with registration now currently open for upcoming sessions of the NJYS Young Olympians Program.

“We welcome the opportunity to continue our partnership with the Philadelphia Union,” said Evan Dabby, Executive Director of New Jersey Youth Soccer. “Working with professional clubs such as the Union plays a complimentary role in player identification and development. This relationship also amplifies our effort to grow the passion for our sport that will benefit the young and aspiring athletes.”

2018 programming for Young Olympians started in July, and sessions will continue throughout the fall. The Young Olympians Program, designed specifically for players born in 2008 and 2009, is an introductory stage for players who aspire to play at a high level and provides a pathway to participate in ODP. Players’ abilities are assessed during each session, which is also segmented so that players are training with others of like ability.

While the programs are customized for each age group, the Young Olympians Programs include three training sessions, a training camp and a festival featuring small-sided games. Pre-registration is required, and the cost is $150. To ensure a proper training environment, registration for each Young Olympians (2008 and 2009) group will be limited to forty (40) players on a first come, first served basis. If demand exceeds capacity, NJ Youth Soccer will create a waiting list and seek solutions for those individuals desiring to participate.

“All of us at Philadelphia Union are excited to continue our partnership with NJ Youth Soccer and the Olympic Development Program,” said Tim McDermott, CBO of the Philadelphia Union. “The Young Olympians initiative is a terrific way for youth in South Jersey to discover this great sport at a young age and be placed in a positive environment to further their skills.”

2018 marks the second year that NJ Youth Soccer has collaborated with the Philadelphia Union for its Young Olympians Program, with the focus being on the southern region of New Jersey.
