Pateadores Soccer Club Supports Efforts to End Local Hunger

Pateadores Soccer Club - OneGenAway

Players, families and staff from Pateadores Soccer Club recently volunteered their time to support those in need around the Nashville community, spending a Saturday morning with One Generation Away (OneGenAway) to help combat hunger on a local, national and global level.

“Our entire organization is proud of these young men and their families,” said Matt Telez, General Manager of Pateadores Soccer Club, Nashville. “To be able to give back to our community is something we want to continue. These experiences will leave a lasting impact on everyone’s lives, and we appreciate OneGenAway for allowing us to be part of their mission.”

Pateadores players, families and staff arrived early on the Saturday morning they assisted OneGenAway in their mission to erase world hunger. For the first hour of the day, the volunteers sorted through a vast array of food to prepare it for distribution. Pateadores players and families then provided food at no charge to any individuals in need who drove up to the OneGenAway facility, greeting them as they arrived and then loading food into their vehicles.

OneGenAway feels that everyone in America should have access to healthy food, and they have made it their mission to secure and provide nourishment for those who have fallen on hard times. The organization first seeks to rescue high-quality food from grocery stores, restaurants, caterers and farms before it goes to waste. That food is then given to individuals and families in need, no questions asked.

“We are proud to highlight moments like these when one of our TN Clubs uses the soccer platform to help volunteer and connect within their communities,” said Hans Hobson, Chief Executive Officer of Tennessee State Soccer Association.

To learn more about OneGenAway’s upcoming distribution schedule throughout Middle Tennessee, North Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, make sure to view their Mobile Pantry schedule online. OneGenAway provides food directly to the local communities through their Mobile Pantry and by distributing items through a network of partnering agencies such as schools, homeless shelters, domestic violence shelters and other food pantries. In an effort to spread hope, honor and dignity, OneGenAway brings food to places of need rather than asking those in need to come to them.
