New Jersey Youth Soccer officially announced today that Paul Blodgett has been named the Goalkeeper Technical Director for New Jersey ODP.
“No one has studied, dissected and taught the goalkeeper position like Coach Paul Blodgett,” said Rick Meana, Director of Coaching Education for NJ Youth Soccer. “NJYS ODP is excited to name Coach Blodgett as our ODP Goalkeeper Technical Director. He and his goalkeeping staff will add greatly to the already high quality program that assists our advanced players in reaching their highest potential.”
Blodgett is the owner/director of the highly successful Paul Blodgett Goalkeeper Training School, LLC. Possessing over three decades of training experience with goalkeepers who range from the grassroots level all the way up to world class athletes, he is recognized as one of the premiere goalkeeper coaches in the country. Blodgett has previously tenured with the Rutgers University Men’s Soccer Program, and he also worked with Sky Blue FC during its 2009 championship season in Women’s Professional Soccer. Currently, he is affiliated with The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Women’s Soccer Program. Over his coaching career, Blodgett has produced five collegiate All-Americans on both the men’s and women’s sides. He has also been an instructor for the “D” and “E” State Licensing Courses for NJ Youth Soccer, as well as the U.S. Youth Soccer National “Y” Licensing Course.
“I feel privileged to have been offered the position of ODP Goalkeeper Technical Director for NJYS,” said Blodgett. “Having been involved with the goalkeeper training programs for ODP since 2005 on both the boys and girls sides, it is an honor to be able to become the overall director of these programs.”
Throughout his coaching career, Blodgett has worked with an elite list of professional goalkeepers, including Billy Gaudette, Jon Conway (Major League Soccer); Saskia Weber, Jillian Loyden (U.S. Women’s National Team); Karina LeBlanc (Canadian Women’s National Team); and Karen Bardsley (England Women’s National Team). Additionally, he has worked with numerous other players, coaches and trainers at the club, high school, collegiate and professional levels.
“We have a qualified staff in place made up of excellent young coaches, as well as seasoned veterans,” Blodgett continued. “Our goal is to maintain and grow the existing comprehensive and professional training environment for the goalkeepers. We will work with the administration and team coaches to create a goalkeeper culture that is consistent throughout ODP and will be a source of pride for all of those who become part of the program.”
