New Jersey Youth Soccer crowned its 11U-14U NJYS State Cups champions over the weekend, with finals for each competition being played on Sunday. Players, coaches and parents were also treated to special guest appearances from former NJYS players who now play professionally in Major League Soccer and the National Women’s Soccer League.

“Being here brings back a lot of great memories of playing in State Cups,” said Sean Davis, New York Red Bulls midfielder. “I was once a youth player in New Jersey, growing up in Holmdel, and these were really special moments for me. It is great to see the kids out here having a great time, and these are memories that they will remember forever. Being able to play a small part in the day is an honor, and I was really happy to be here.”

Philadelphia Union defender RJ Allen was also a special guest on Sunday, where he spoke to players, coaches and parents about his time as a youth player in New Jersey.

“I would like to thank New Jersey Youth Soccer for having me out today,” Allen stated. “For me, being here brings back a ton of memories about my days of playing youth soccer in New Jersey. I am really grateful that I was able to share some of my State Cup memories with these players today as they created some memories of their own.”

Sky Blue FC midfielder Nicole Baxter also commented about her experience at the NJYS State Cups Finals.

“Having grown up in New Jersey, it was a really cool opportunity to attend today’s State Cup games and to speak with some of the players,” she remarked. “It is exciting to support NJYS and to have a close relationship with an organization that is doing so much to develop youth soccer players and to grow the game around our home state. Between the players on the field and the NJYS employees and volunteers that I had the pleasure of meeting today, I can tell soccer in New Jersey is in incredibly good hands.” NJYS State Cups consist of National Championship Series, Presidents Cup and Commissioners Cup competitions. The 11U-14U divisions play in the fall season from September through November, while the 15U-19U age groups play in the spring season from April to May. Read a full recap of the 2019 NJYS Fall State Cups Finals.
