NJYS Young Olympians

The NJ Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) has opened registration for its Young Olympians Program (birth years 2009-2010), which will get underway in October. Sessions are hosted regionally (south, shore/central and north) to facilitate participation throughout the state and establish consistency in training session and related player evaluations.

“Young Olympians is a great opportunity for ambitious soccer players from around the state to introduce themselves to our coaching staff and gauge their individual game,” said James Galanis, Technical Director of New Jersey ODP.

The NJYS Young Olympians Program, designed specifically for players born in 2009 and 2010, is an introductory stage for those who aspire to play at a high level and provides a pathway to participate in New Jersey ODP. Player abilities will be assessed by the NJYS staff, and the sessions will be segmented so that players are training with others of similar ability. Overall, the program will focus on improving a player’s technical ability and tactical awareness while exposing both players and parents to a US Youth Soccer and New Jersey ODP environment.

The Young Olympians Program includes training sessions, camp and a festival featuring small-sided games. Pre-registration is required. To ensure a proper training environment, registration will be limited to 50 players on a first come, first served basis. If demand exceeds capacity, NJYS will create a waiting list and seek solutions for those individuals desiring to participate.
