Sky Blue FC Seeks Three Points When It Hosts the Boston Breakers at Yurcak Field

Sky Blue FC (8-9-2, 23 points) will return to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) action on Saturday night, hosting the Boston Breakers (3-9-7, 16 points) at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J. Kickoff for the match is set for 7:00 p.m. ET, and fans can purchase tickets online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).

This match marks the second and final meeting between these two clubs during the 2017 season. In their first outing, which occurred in Boston back in April, the Breakers claimed a tight 1-0 result behind a Natasha Dowie to Rose Lavelle tally in the 37th minute. Historically, Sky Blue FC leads this series with a 6-3-3 overall record, and the New Jersey club has never lost a home match to Boston since the NWSL was founded in 2013 (4-0-2).

Sky Blue FC is coming off the greatest comeback in NWSL history last weekend, a 5-4 win over Seattle Reign FC. In that contest, Sky Blue FC trailed 3-0 at halftime before Sam Kerr scored a second-half hat trick that leveled the match at three apiece. After Kiersten Dallstream reclaimed the lead for Seattle in the 85th minute, Sky Blue FC soon found itself trailing 4-3 as the game entered the 90th minute, but the fun was just getting started. First, a Domi Richardson to Maya Hayes connection in the 91st minute equalized the count, and then a Taylor Lytle to Kerr corner kick conversion as time expired hung the final 5-4 tally.

Plenty of history was made in the thrilling victory. Kerr became the first NWSL player to score two hat tricks in one season and also the first NWSL player to record four goals in a single match. Sky Blue FC also became the first NWSL club to win a game that it trailed by three goals, as well as the New Jersey outfit becoming the first NWSL team to win a game that is was losing in the 90th minute. Another significant note is that Sky Blue FC has headed into the 75th minute this season with a tie score on six occasions, going on to win five of those fixtures (5-0-1). Additionally, Kerr now has 15 goals on the season, just one shy of Kim Little’s 2014 league record.

Boston enters Saturday night amid a seven-match winless streak, with its last victory coming on July 1 against the Washington Spirit, 1-0.
