Kelley O’Hara, Sarah Killion Called into January Senior Camp; Erica Skroski Joins U-23 Camp

With the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) College Draft on tap for next week, an exciting year of women’s soccer is starting to hit full swing. The U.S. Women’s National Team has already begun preparations for 2017 as well, recently announcing the first training camps of the year for its senior team and U-23 side.

Sky Blue FC will be well represented in both of those camps, with defender Kelley O’Hara and 2016 team most valuable player Sarah Killion attending the U.S. Women’s National Team training camp in Carson, Calif. The camp will be held at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center from Jan. 13-23. Additionally, defender Erica Skroski is in attendance for the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team camp that gets underway today and runs until next Friday at U.S. Soccer’s National Training Center.

“We are very excited for Sarah,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach, of Killion receiving her second senior team call-up. “This is a fantastic reward for all of the hard work she has committed to Sky Blue FC and her own personal development in recent years. We have complete confidence that she will be able to showcase the full range of her abilities alongside some of our nation’s best players, such as her Sky Blue FC teammate Kelley O’Hara. Kelley has consistently remained a huge contributor to the U.S. Women’s National Team, and we are very fortunate to have both of these players as part of our club here in New Jersey.”

Skroski, who played all but six minutes of her rookie NWSL season in 2016, re-joins the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team after helping them win the 2016 Istria Cup last March in Croatia.

“It is great to see Erica back with the U-23 team,” said Holly. “This is a huge part of her development curve, which will hopefully allow Erica to play at the highest level for the United States in the coming years. She is another player we are very excited to have in New Jersey, and we look forward to seeing what the future has in store for her.”
