Sky Blue FC Meets North Carolina Courage in NWSL Game of the Week on Lifetime

Sky Blue FC (5-6-1, 16 points) will return to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) action on Saturday, meeting the first-place North Carolina Courage (8-3-0, 24 points) at WakeMed Park in Cary, N.C. The match will feature as the NWSL Game of the Week on Lifetime, officially hitting the broadcast airwaves at 3:30 p.m.

“We look forward to getting back on the field against North Carolina,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “This past stretch of games has been extremely challenging, but we know the players are putting forth their best efforts despite the difficult circumstances. The expectation is make a few changes for this game, but we also expect to have a very good performance in front of a national audience on Lifetime.”

Sky Blue FC comes into the weekend on some heavy legs, having played two complete games since the last time North Carolina was on the field. The most recent appearance for the Courage was last Saturday, a 1-0 win over the Boston Breakers at Jordan Field, while Sky Blue FC has flown to the Chicago Red Stars for a Sunday match, hosted the Orlando Pride on Wednesday at Yurcak Field and then flew to North Carolina for this contest. Additionally, Saturday will be the eighth road match and 13th overall game of the season for Sky Blue FC, both of which are the highest marks in the league.

With the calendar changing to July, Sky Blue FC looks to make a bit of a fresh start after falling in three of four matches in June. Saturday will be the second meeting of the season between the New Jersey outfit and the Courage, with the first occurring on May 24 in North Carolina. In that contest, Sky Blue FC goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan set a club NWSL record with 11 saves, but the Courage were able to pick up a 2-0 victory.

After this weekend, Sky Blue FC will return home to Yurcak Field on Saturday, July 8, hosting FC Kansas City for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Individual tickets for that match are available now online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).
