Two Teams Playing on Back End of Home-And-Home Series

Sky Blue FC (4-4-1, 10 points) will return to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) action on Saturday, traveling to Providence Park to face Portland Thorns FC (4-1-3, 15 points). Kickoff for the match is set for 7:00 p.m. PT (10:00 p.m. ET), and fans can watch the action live via Go90 or NWSLsoccer.com. Additionally, fans can gather for a local viewing party of the game on Saturday at Beach Haus Brewery in Belmar, N.J.

“We have an exceptional amount of excitement about getting back on the field,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “After a long break, we have been able to address certain facets of our game where we needed to improve upon from some of our performances in recent weeks. We feel that if we can play to our potential on Saturday, it will be a very entertaining game.”

Prior to the first international break of the NWSL season last weekend, the Thorns edged out Sky Blue FC on June 3 at Yurcak Field, 2-0. Heading into the match, Sky Blue FC was amid a three-game home winning streak and had not been defeated on New Jersey soil in 2017. Despite out-shooting Portland by a wide margin of 18-8, Sky Blue FC fell victim to a superb performance by goalkeeper Adrianna Franch, who recorded seven saves on her way to a clean slate. Offensively, both goals in the contest came from Thorns midfielder Lindsay Horan in the first half. With the 2-0 result, Portland stretched its current unbeaten streak to six games.

From an historical perspective, the all-time series now stands at 5-5-2, including a 3-3-0 stalemate at Providence Park. The Thorns have won in the previous three meetings between these two clubs, with the last Sky Blue FC win in Portland coming on June 24, 2015. The Thorns are currently on a very successful stretch at home, going 7-0-1 over their previous eight contests at Providence Park.

Sky Blue FC will return home to Yurcak Field on Wednesday, June 28, hosting the Orlando Pride for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Individual tickets for that match are available now online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).
