Sky Blue FC and Seattle Reign FC Face-Off in Saturday Night Pairing

Sky Blue FC (7-6-2, 23 points) will return to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) action on Saturday, traveling to Memorial Stadium for the second time in 2017 to face Seattle Reign FC (5-3-6, 21 points). Kickoff for the match is set for 10:00 p.m. ET, and fans can watch the action live via Go90 or NWSLsoccer.com (international).

“We are really looking forward to getting on the field in Seattle,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “The goal is to continue our overall improvement as a team and put forth a performance that truly matches our potential.”

Heading into the weekend, Sky Blue FC forward Sam Kerr leads the NWSL in goals scored (10), and goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan leads the NWSL in saves made (60). The 10 goals by Kerr are already the most ever by a Sky Blue FC player in a single season, and she also stands as the NWSL’s all-time leading goal-scorer with 36 overall.

Sky Blue FC enters this weekend contest on the heels of a 2-2 comeback draw with the Chicago Red Stars last Saturday night at Yurcak Field. After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, Maya Hayes recorded an unassisted tally in the 32nd minute to take a 2-1 score line into the intermission. Battling for the equalizer throughout the second half, Sky Blue FC eventually found it in dramatic fashion when Sam Kerr finished off a Sarah Killion cross in the 90th minute.

Historically, this series is currently knotted up at 3-3-5 overall, with Sky Blue FC holding a 2-1-3 edge in road contests. Saturday night marks the second meeting between these two clubs in 2017, with the first result being a 1-1 draw at Memorial Stadium on NWSL Opening Weekend.

Sky Blue FC is currently riding a three-game unbeaten streak, while Seattle comes into this match-up after a 1-1 home draw with the Boston Breakers last weekend.

Following this weekend road fixture, the NWSL will take its second international break of the season, with Sky Blue FC returning to action on Friday, August 4, when it hosts the Washington Spirit at Yurcak Field. Individual tickets for that match are available now online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).
