The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) officially announced team home openers on Tuesday, with Sky Blue FC confirming it will open its 2017 home slate on Sunday, April 30. On that date, Sky Blue FC will welcome two-time league champion FC Kansas City to Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J., where kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
Tickets for the 2017 Sky Blue FC home opener on April 30 are available now for purchase online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).
“We are really excited to confirm the date of our home opener,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “This is a timely reminder that the new season is right around the corner. We cannot wait to see all of our fans at Yurcak Field again this year, led by our Cloud 9 Supporters Group.”
Sky Blue FC will open its eighth season as a professional franchise on the road when it travels to Memorial Stadium to take on two-time NWSL Shield winner Seattle Reign FC on Saturday, April 15. The NWSL season will extend to a 24-match schedule in 2017 after being a 20-game slate over the past two seasons, with each of the 10 member clubs playing 12 home and 12 road fixtures each.
Through the NWSL’s partnership with A+E Networks, Lifetime will broadcast an NWSL Game of the Week every Saturday to provide fans throughout the country the opportunity to watch some of the best players in the world. A 30-minute pregame show will kick off each weekly broadcast.
Sky Blue FC currently has open tryouts scheduled for March 1-2 at Sports City, which is located at 269 Squankum Road in Farmingdale, N.J. (behind Howell Ice Arena). Online registration for the trials is now open.
