Match Stands as Second Sky Blue FC Pride Night Amid Month-Long Pride Celebration

Sky Blue FC (5-5-1, 16 points) will return to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) action on Wednesday, hosting the Orlando Pride (3-4-3, 10 points) as part of its month-long Pride Celebration at Yurcak Field. Kickoff for the match is set for 7:00 p.m. ET, and fans can purchase tickets online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).

“We look forward to getting back on the field tomorrow,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “After a quick turnaround, we are fully aware of how important this game is. We know that the second half in Chicago over the weekend was not a real representation of how we are capable of playing, and we plan on fixing that.”

This past Sunday, Sky Blue FC got out to another early lead when Madison Tiernan finished a Taylor Lytle corner kick in the 3rd minute, scoring her first professional goal. Unfortunately for the New Jersey club, Chicago rallied with two second-half goals from Vanessa DiBernardo and Sofia Huerta to claim an eventual 2-1 result.

Over the weekend, Orlando saw a two-game winning streak snapped by the Houston Dash, as Carli Lloyd and Rachel Daly each registered goals in a 2-0 Dash victory in the NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week on Saturday.

Heading into Wednesday night, Sky Blue FC is unbeaten in three meetings with the Pride, going 2-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 at Yurcak Field. This match-up marks the second of the 2017 NWSL season between the two clubs, with the first one resulting in a dramatic Sam Kerr to Maya Hayes game-winner in the 82nd minute that gave Sky Blue FC a 2-1 victory.

Individual tickets for Wednesday’s match are available now online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849). For all of the latest news on Sky Blue FC, visit the team online and make sure to follow us on social media: @SkyBlueFC
