Perth Glory Earns Second Consecutive Victory By Means of Sam Kerr Game-Winner

Perth Glory won its second consecutive match over the weekend in Westfield W-League play, defeating Sydney FC, 1-0.

The lone tally in the contest came in the 18th minute, as Sky Blue FC forward Sam Kerr gathered possession in the midfield before sending it over to Shawn Billam and making a run towards the Perth goal. Billam then carried the ball down the center of the Sydney FC defense and booted a hard roller to Rosie Sutton on top of the penalty area. By that point, Kerr was finishing a run through the middle of the box, and Sutton fed her into space just outside the right post. Kerr then ran onto the pass and one-timed a beautiful strike that curled over the goalkeeper and hit the right-side netting.

Throughout the remainder of the fixture, Kerr continued to wreak havoc on the Sydney FC defense, creating multiple opportunities and coming up just inches short of adding to her goal total on the day. However, her 18th minute tally would prove to be all that Perth needed to claim the result and a critical three points.

With the win, Perth now owns 10 points on the season and is just two points shy of the top of the W-League ladder.
