Sam Kerr Doing Sam Kerr Things

The Westfield W-League in Australia got off with a bang for a pair of Sky Blue FC players this weekend, as forward Sam Kerr and midfielder Nikki Stanton came out on the right side of a 4-2 victory for Perth Glory over the Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday.

Perth jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in this contest before Western Sydney responded with a goal before halftime to make it a 2-1 match as the two sides headed into the intermission. However, this game became level five minutes into the second half, setting up a big finish.

In the 68th minute, a long ball was played forward to Kerr, who raced onto the feed just outside the penalty area. As the ball arrived, the crafty playmaker split two defenders and dove into a right-footed shot that rifled into the right-side netting to put Perth back on top, 3-2. Kerr then sealed the win in the 83rd minute after collecting a cross from Alyssa Mautz in front of the frame, tapping it into the goal to hang the final 4-2 score line.
