Sky Blue FC Faces Houston Dash in NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week

Sky Blue FC (1-2-1, 4 points) will return to National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) action on Saturday, traveling to BBVA Compass Stadium to face the Houston Dash (2-2-0, 6 points) in the NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week. Kickoff for the match, which is the fourth road fixture in five weeks for Sky Blue FC, is set for 4:00 p.m. ET with a pre-game show getting underway on Lifetime at 3:30 p.m. ET.

“We are very eager to get on the field this weekend in Houston,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “After a disappointing result last week in Washington, it was essential that we put it behind us and get refocused. We had a good week of training and are feeling confident ahead of what will be a difficult game against a dangerous opponent.”

Sky Blue FC heads into Houston for the first set of a home-and-home series with the Dash after an electric seven-goal outing last weekend that saw the New Jersey club come out on the wrong side of a 4-3 result against the Washington Spirit. In that match, midfielder Sarah Killion paced the Sky Blue FC attack with a pair of goals, while U.S. international Kelley O’Hara added a goal and assist. Washington was led by a forward Francisca Ordega, who registered two goals and an assist.

Houston enters Saturday on the heels of a 2-0 loss at the hands of the Chicago Red Stars, which was the first of three consecutive appearances for the Dash as the NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week. The two scores for Chicago were provided by Sarah Hagen and Julie Ertz.

In their last seven meetings, Sky Blue FC is unbeaten against Houston, collectively going 4-0-3 and allowing just three total goals during that span.

Sky Blue FC will be without the services of Kelley O’Hara this weekend (excused absence), but the team will see defender Christie Pearce return after missing the previous two matches. Additionally, midfielders Raquel Rodriguez and Daphne Corboz are available after being out against the Spirit.

Sky Blue FC will return home to Yurcak Field next Saturday, May 20, hosting the Houston Dash in a second straight NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week. Kickoff for that match is slated for 4:00 p.m., and tickets are available now online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).
