Sky Blue FC Welcomes Houston Dash to Yurcak Field for NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week

After a grueling start to the 2017 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season that has included four road games in its first five matches, Sky Blue FC (2-2-1, 7 points) returns home to Yurcak Field on Saturday to host the Houston Dash (2-3-0, 6 points) in the NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week. Kickoff for the match is set for 4:00 p.m. ET, and tickets are available now online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).

“We are very excited to get back on home soil in front of our fantastic fans,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “We had a very good week of preparation, and we have made a few tactical changes. Ultimately, we will be looking for a strong performance at home against a dangerous Houston team.”

Saturday marks the back end of a home-and-home series as the NWSL on Lifetime Game of the Week between Sky Blue FC and the Dash, following a 3-1 road victory for Sky Blue FC last Saturday at BBVA Compass Stadium. In that contest, the New Jersey outfit took a 1-0 lead into halftime, as midfielder Sarah Killion buried her fourth goal of the season in the 33rd minute. An incredible sequence from Sam Kerr to Leah Galton in the 53rd minute made it 2-0, but Houston was able to decrease the deficit to 2-1 when Poliana finished a Kealia Ohai feed in the 76th minute. Sky Blue FC eventually put this one out of reach in the 87th minute as Kerr scored an assist from McKenzie Meehan.

In their last eight meetings, Sky Blue FC is unbeaten against the Dash, collectively going 5-0-3 and allowing just four total goals during that span. Heading into the weekend, Sky Blue FC is currently a single point shy of second place despite having played just one home contest over the first five weeks of the season.

In addition to the great action on the pitch, Sky Blue FC is also pleased to welcome motivational speaker, philanthropist and former Rutgers University standout Eric LeGrand as the team’s honorary captain on Saturday.

Tickets for Saturday’s match are available now online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849). Additionally, Sky Blue FC is currently offering a pair of special offers for two and three-game packages. For a limited time, fans can get group pricing when they purchase tickets for the next two (May 20, May 27) or three matches (May 20, May 27, June 3). Anyone interested in taking advantage of these offers can do so online or by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849).
