Four Tennessee Teams Advance to USYS Southern Regional Finals

As the last day of the US Youth Soccer (USYS) Southern Regional Championships kicks off on Thursday morning, four Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA) teams are playing in the finals of the regional tournament. Each of the remaining TSSA teams have won all five of their games at the Southern Regional Championships, scoring a total of 70 goals while only yielding 10 to the opposition.

The State of Tennessee has been extremely well represented throughout the Southern Regional Championships, where it saw 15 TSSA teams advance past group play and eight of those teams continue onto the semifinals. The Southern Regional Championships feature the most accomplished US Youth Soccer teams in the Southern Region and have been hosted over the past week in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Chattanooga Red Wolves 08G have been victorious in all five of their games at the Southern Regional Championships. They first won their group by a goal differential of 12-0 before securing a 2-1 result over Shreveport United 08G Blue (LA) in the quarterfinals and a 5-1 decision against Savannah United 08G Premier (GA) in the semifinals. Over the course of the competition, the Red Wolves have registered 19 goals and only yielded two. Next up, they face MS Rush United 08G Premier in the Southern Regional Finals at 10:00 AM.

2007 Lady Lobos Rush E64 also recorded three clean sheets in group play, outscoring their opposition by a tally of 10-0 over a trio of victories. In the elimination rounds, they earned hard-fought 2-1 results over Team Boca Elite 64 07G (FL) in the quarterfinals and BVB Academy 07 G’s Yellow Elite (LA) in the semifinals. During the Southern Regionals, Lady Lobos Rush hold a 14-2 goal differential over their opponents. They now meet MS Rush United 07G Premier in the Southern Regional Finals at 9:30 AM this morning.

After registering three wins by a cumulative goal differential of 13-1 to win their opening round group, NUSA 06G Maroon has since earned a 7-3 victory over Dash 06 North (STX) in the quarterfinals and a 2-0 decision against Team Boca Elite 64 06G (FL) in the semifinals. Over the course of the tournament, they have outscored their opponents 22-4 in five consecutive wins. Next on the docket is an 8:00 AM match-up with Solar South 06G Adames (NTX) in the Southern Regional Finals.

2004/05 Lady Lobos Rush E64 opened the regional tournament with three straight wins in group play, scoring 10 goals while only giving up two. Next, they recorded a 2-0 shutout over 2004/05 Elite Girls Blue (MS) in the quarterfinals before securing a 3-0 result against 04 NCFC Elite G (NC) in the semifinals. The goal differential over the course of their five wins is 15-2 in their favor. Now, Lady Lobos Rush look to bring home the 19U Southern Regional Championship when they face Cajun Rush 04G Academy (LA) at 8:00 AM.

Teams competing at the Southern Regional Championships are seeking a berth to the 2023 US Youth Soccer National Championships, which will be hosted from July 17-23 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. The USYS National Championship Series is the country’s most prestigious national youth soccer tournament, providing winners from each state the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.
