Two TSSA Teams Punch Tickets to USYS National Presidents Cup

Two Tennessee State Soccer Association (TSSA) teams have secured a spot in the US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup after reaching the Southern Presidents Cup Finals this week. Lifting the trophy at the regional competition was SCOR 11 GU13 Lady Mustangs (13U Girls), while TSC Williamson 2007 Girls Showcase (17U Girls) also represented Tennessee as finalists.

By reaching the last day of the Southern Presidents Cup, which was hosted in Plano, Texas, both teams officially secured a spot in the USYS National Presidents Cup next month in Wichita, Kansas.

“This Southern Regional Presidents Cup in Plano, Texas, was everything. Big, organized, competitive, festive and rewarding for all our traveling parents and players,” said Sean Moua, head coach of the SCOR 11 GU13 Lady Mustangs. “This was our first time, and now every time and every season, our aim. Onto Nationals!”

SCOR 11 GU13 Lady Mustangs did not allow a single goal at Southern Presidents Cup, registering five consecutive shutouts and outscoring their opposition by a tally of 10-0. They advanced to the elimination rounds after winning their group, recording nine points off three straight victories and a 5-0 goal differential. The Lady Mustangs then earned their fourth consecutive shutout in the Southern Presidents Cup Semifinals on Monday, blanking SA City 11/12G Red (STX), 2-0. They carried that momentum into the 13U Girls Final on Tuesday, where they secured another clean sheet over Union 10 FC 2011 Girls (AL) following a 3-0 result. With that win, they were officially crowned 13U Girls Southern Presidents Cup Champions.

Also advancing to the Southern Presidents Cup Finals on Tuesday was TSC Williamson 2007 Girls Showcase, who earned their spot in the semifinals after claiming six points (2-1 record) on a 6-3 goal differential to lock up the runner-up spot in their group. TSC Williamson then defeated NCFCY White North G (NC) in the 17U Girls Semifinals, blanking the North Carolina side by a tally of 2-0. Following that victory, TSC Williamson booked a reservation with CSC EAGLES 2007G (LA) in the Southern Presidents Cup Final but fell to the Louisiana representative in a hard-fought contest, 3-1.

The National Presidents Cup will be held from July 12-16 in Wichita, Kansas, with the top qualifying teams from around the country battling for the right to be called a national champion.
